  • Question: Will this stropping belt fit my Work Sharp model?

    Answer: Yes, it is specifically designed for the Original Work Sharp Knife and Tool Sharpener.
  • Question: What is the purpose of the buffing compound?

    Answer: The buffing compound helps refine the knife edge and removes small burrs for a sharper finish.
  • Question: What if the belt is too short during installation?

    Answer: The belts are slightly short and may require stretching; please contact us if it's unmanageable.
  • Question: How do you use/apply the buffing compound that comes in the cardboard tube, does it need to be removed?

    Answer: You can pry the metal bottom off of the tube with pliers and push the compound through to expose it. You'll only apply a very thin layer with very light pressure. The compound is aluminum oxide material and a nominal 10-15 micron. Our white compound is considered a cutting compound and is able to remove the burr left by abrasives while sharpening.
  • Question: Can you put the plastic sharpening guids on the sharpener when you use this strop, or do you have to free hand it without the plastic angle guides?

    Answer: You can use the guides.
  • Question: Will this leave a mirror edge on the knife?

    Answer: If you are patient enough. Applying a bit of rouge will help, if that is what you are after. For my part, I wish the device were bigger, and used a larger, wider belt, but it is definitely faster than hand stropping.
  • Question: Does it fit the wskts? not sure what original means?

    Answer: Yes, it fits the original for sure. It works really well, you just need to run the knife through from the back side of the sharpener on one side. You don't want the blade turned into the direction belt is turning. Not sure if it fits the Ken Onion model but it does fit the original. Be Careful, your knife will be sharp!
  • Question: Which side goes to the blade?

    Answer: The slick or skin side of the belt goes out. The suede type side goes inside.
  • Question: Does this belt fit the smiths knife and tool sharpener?

    Answer: Yes, it does.
