Customer Questions & Answers

  • Question: What is a PIR motion activated sensor light switch?

Answer: A PIR (Passive Infrared) motion activated sensor light switch detects motion through infrared radiation emitted by humans and animals. When it senses movement, it activates connected lighting, making it ideal for energy-efficient outdoor and indoor lighting solutions. This is particularly useful in areas with foot traffic such as hallways, garages, or patios, ensuring that lights only turn on when needed.
  • Question: What is the voltage range for this sensor light switch?

Answer: This PIR motion sensor operates on a direct current voltage range of 5V to 24V. This versatility allows it to be compatible with a wide range of LED lighting systems and electronic devices. Whether you are working with battery-powered applications or standard DC power supplies, this range ensures a flexible installation suited for various settings.
  • Question: How does the occupancy motion sensor work?

Answer: The occupancy motion sensor works by emitting an infrared signal that detects changes in heat as people move through its field of view. Once it detects motion, it activates the light connected to it. This technology is beneficial in conserving energy, as lights automatically turn off when no movement is detected, perfect for spaces like offices or bathrooms where motion can be sporadic.
  • Question: How many pieces are included in this product set?

Answer: This product comes as a set of three PIR motion activated sensor light switches. This allows users to effectively cover multiple areas, enabling efficient motion detection across different spaces in a home or business. With three switches, you can install them in various locations such as kitchens, hallways, or entryways for maximum convenience.
  • Question: Can this sensor switch be used with LED strip lights?

Answer: Yes, this PIR motion sensor light switch is designed specifically to work with LED strip lights, effectively controlling their operation based on motion detection. By using this sensor, you create a seamless lighting experience where LED strips light up automatically when someone enters a room or space, enhancing ambiance and functionality.
  • Question: What is the maximum current rating for this PIR motion sensor?

Answer: The maximum current rating for this sensor light switch is 5A. This means it can support a significant load, making it suitable for various applications including larger lighting setups. It's crucial for users to ensure their connected devices do not exceed this current limit to ensure proper functionality and prevent any potential damage.
  • Question: Is additional wiring required for installation?

Answer: While the PIR motion sensor comes with a direct current coupler cable, additional wiring may be necessary depending on your specific lighting setup. Ensure you have the proper tools and equipment for installation. The installation can be as simple or complex as the space requires, making it adaptable for both DIY enthusiasts and professional electricians.
  • Question: Can I adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensor?

Answer: Many PIR motion sensors, including this one, allow for sensitivity adjustments, enabling users to customize how they detect motion. This feature is useful in environments where unintended motion detection might occur, such as areas near moving objects or pets. Adjusting sensitivity enhances the performance and reliability of your lighting setup, ensuring optimal use.
  • Question: What are common applications for this type of sensor?

Answer: Common applications for this PIR motion activated sensor light switch include use in hallways, stairwells, garages, and outdoor areas. The ability to detect motion and automatically turn on lights can significantly enhance safety and convenience in homes and commercial spaces. This technology is particularly beneficial in areas where traditional light switches could be impractical.
  • Question: Where can I buy this PIR motion activated sensor light switch in Tuvalu?

Answer: You can purchase the Direct Current 5V-24V 5A PIR Motion Activated Sensor Light Switch from Ubuy in Tuvalu. Ubuy offers a wide range of electronic components and accessories, making it a reliable source for all your lighting needs. You’ll find detailed product descriptions and options to cater to your setup.

Hortsun Motion-Activated Switches Editorial Review

The Direct Current 5V-24V 5A PIR Motion Activated Sensor Light Switch is a convenient and easy-to-install solution for motion-activated lighting. It works well and is sensitive enough to be activated by animals such as cats. The device can handle up to 5 amps at 12 volts and can be used to turn on/off various devices, including a cat water fountain. The connector specifications are 5.5 x 2.1mm, which is a standard DC barrel connector. However, it is not recommended for exterior use due to potential issues with condensation, water-proofing, and false triggers caused by IR light. The set time for the lights to stay on can be adjusted, but some users have experienced issues with this feature. Overall, it is a useful product for indoor applications, such as cabinets or closets.
